Why are Edward's eyes yellow?
Something has been nagging at me for a while...and I haven't been able to put my finger on it. But now I have. Can someone please explain why Edward's eyes are bright yellow while he's fighting with the Volturi? Shouldn't they be black? What, did he hunt the royal Maltese while they were shuffling him down the dark, underground hallways? Confused, party of 1!

Well, I can put your confusion right.
Yes, Edwards has yellow eyes when facing the Volturi BECAUSE he didn't hang out there before, he was in South America (I think). What I mean is, when he finds out/ thinks that Bella is dead he heads off to Italy and Bella and Alice race there to save him being somewhat half a day behind Edward.
I hope that clears it up for you ;)
But it doesn't explain the yellow.
well yes it does, so up to the point were he thinks bella is dead, he was hunting in south america and might even had a very good feed just before calling the swan house. so it is explanable that he has liquid gold (or yellow) eyes... as a good feed can last a while before going back to black.
Anonymous's argument does seem reasonable, but I seem to recall his eyes are way black when they get back to Forks from Italy. Isn't there a description of Edward's eyes at Bella's bedside when she wakes up? Or maybe I'm thinking of Twilight, when she wakes up at the hospital...
Yes, unfortuantley...just finished reading it yet again...hmmmmm when she was in awe of him being close to her again she mentions that his eyes were so black/the shadows underneath to ...her Edward was usualy better fed
Yes it sounds resonable but it doesn't explain...think they just goofed in the filming
Here's why I think it's bothering me. Look at Edward in the Volturi scenes. He's all scary looking. So even though he might have fed in South America (my god I love those 4 pages on Stephenie Meyer's site) he still looks horrible in Italy, which sortof says he hasn't fed in a while. I would think. It's...complicated. ;)
Maybe he has problemz....
And now I'm passed his eye color because HE GOT HIS ASS KICKED!!!! Edward Cullen does NOT get his ass kicked!!!!!!
i love edward and who cares why his eyes are yellow....hes still so dam fine....
His eyes are yellow because he eats animals, And right after any of the family eats their eyes are golden yellow.
Anonymous - that's my point. In the book, Bella comments on his eyes looking like he hasn't hunted in a while - or Stephenie describes him as having shadows under his eyes (which would mean they are black). I'll have to look it up.
