Deep (Twilight) Thoughts

Was just driving home from my Yoga class... (Namaste)... and had random Twithoughts running around in my brain and had to share.

1 - Did Edward ever truly hear Bella say she was doing reckless things so she could hallucinate him? I don't think so. I think she skimmed it briefly when they got back from Italy because she didn't want to make him feel bad. The only thing he heard was Alice say she had taken up extreme sports. Am I right on this?

2 - In New Moon, the film - do you think they'll show Edward getting the call from Rosalie in South America? I realize that's just a 4 page blurb on Stephenie Meyer's site, but it's SICKENINGLY juicy and delicious, is it not?! Or do you think we'll just see Alice tell Bella she sees Edward in Italy trying to off himself?

3 - I have been hearing a lot of Morrissey and The Smiths lately and I can't help but think that Morrissey is the voice of Edward Cullen. So many of his/their songs are so pained and intense. I have heard "How Soon is Now" twice in the past two days and I would absolutely put that on my New Moon Playlist, except for the fact that the refrain is "I am HUMAN and I need to be loved". Yeah. It just doesn't work now, does it? Too bad it's not "I am VAMPIRE and I need to be loved just like anybody else does." Now that - my friends - would rule.

Answers to questions:

1. YES--there's definitely an exchange about it after she wakes up back in Forks. Don't have the book with me, but I'll find the page later.

2. Hopefully, NO. If they're sticking with the "we only see imagined Edward until we see him moving into the sun in Italy" slant, then I can't imagine you'll see ANYTHING from his POV before then.

But don't you kindof WANT to see him all huddled up in that attic... with his knees 2 inches from his face... and the phone ringing over and over again... and him getting "irritated"...my god I love Edward Cullen. PS - I have to look it up -I think Bella WAY skimmed her extreme sports adventures to save him the heartache. 36 DAYS!!!

Page 526 of New Moon :oP Not in great detail but yes, extreme sports was discussed.

Yup, that's it--and it's when they're on their way back to the Cullen's house, as Bella has her "epiphany." Continues a bit to p. 528.

I knew it. You still love Edward. Don't give me this Outlander bullshizz. ;)

I kid you not--leafing through NM to find that info was the first time I've picked up a Twilight book in, like, 2 weeks. I am all about the Outlander now. I have about 150 pp to go in book 2. This book has been harder to get through than the first one--but still a great read. HAVE YOU STARTED OUTLANDER YET???????

Tracey C said...

I am scared to start it! I am a impatient reader and loose 'allot' of sleep to it...you's have commented that it is a difficult read? Please define a little more...

Have any of you read The Host?

Bout to see if I can order the sweet tarts off the internet :oP

Tracey C: The toughest part of the first Outlander book was getting through the first 200 or so pages--but once you do that, it's smooth sailing all the way. I could not put it down--but more importantly, I started to think about/obsess over the characters the way I did when I read Twilight.

The second book is a little tougher b/c....OK, let's just say that when it starts out, you're like, "Huh? HUH? NOOOOO!!!!!!" It makes it sound like something has happened between the end of the first book and the beginning of this one that you don't want to happen. Again, there's 50-70 pages of this, and then things get good again. But the second book is longer than the first and SO expansive. These are historical novels with lots of detail, and it's sometimes hard to keep everything straight. Plus a lot of the action in this second one takes place in the Paris court circa 1744, a setting that I normally don't like anyway. But the heart of the book--the relationship between Jamie and Claire--is constant, and that's what keeps you hooked.

Here's my advice--get through 300 pages of Outlander. If you don't like it, throw it away. But I think you will.

I just got back from my book club meeting and am free and clear to start Outlander. Next month's meeting is on November 19th - so I'm not going. I'll be way too pumped for New Moon the next morning and since Tom is taking the day off for me - I'm not going to skip out on the 19th. Unless, of course, Tracey convinces me to go to NYC for the Twilight Moms premiere (which is most likely sold out?)

I am relatively free and clear to start Outlander as well. I'm just now finishing up the latest installment of the BDB series.

Tracey R: Outlander is beginning to sound a little like Pillars of the Earth, what with all the historical detail and being tough to read. That makes me nervous! ;) I guess I'm off to Borders this weekend tho...can't be left out of the loop!

Read Pillars of the Earth for book club. Liked it a lot. OUTLANDER IS A BAZILLION TIMES BETTER!!!!!!!!

Carol--there's still a possibility that I can convince you to come to NYC????? I thought that ship had sailed. If I can get tix, will you come????

I read Pillars of the Earth and liked it a lot. But I have to admit - I skimmed the architecture. When Tom Builder would start waxing on about arches, I did a quick "yeah yeah yeah yeah" until I got to something a little more interesting.

Thank you for the run through...Hold for it at the Library...will hit the book store this weekend :o) Ohhhh 33 days to go...

ROFLMAO Carol--I thought the same thing about Tom Builder. I really liked his character, but OMG, he'd go on for like 30 pages about architecture!!! Did exactly the same thing as you.
