Kevin Smith talks Twilight & New Moon at Comic-Con

I. Love. Kevin. Smith. And since I live at the Jersey shore - not far from Red Bank - I pretty much support everything he does. (Well I wasn't too jazzed about the donkey but the overwhelming amount of Kevin Smith goodness out there negated it.) WARNING - bad language abounds in this clip. So please don't watch if you'll be offended... or if I know your parents and they'll be pissed at me at the next town council meeting. ;)

"Giving an interview 101"

The following is an email from my sister, Tracey (who might be a Purgatory commentator if I can get her to agree.) She is RIGHT ON THE MONEY with this. If you're not already watching "True Blood" or reading the Sookie Stackhouse novels, what are you waiting for?

KStew and RPattz--please watch the following video. This is how subjects of a pop culture phenomenon SHOULD act toward the press. Please take notes, as there will be a test later. (Taylor, you performed well the other day and are excused from class.)

And tonight, on a very special New Moon special...

I don't know how to feel about this...

Know why I find this rather interesting?

I came across this little diddy about Rob Pattinson auditioning for Twilight because he dug Kristen Stewart... and I found it interesting. Not because I give a shit whether they're shagging or not. But because Kristen Stewart - the girl with the worst attitude on the planet when it comes to interviews - was picked to be Bella before anyone else was cast. She had major influence about who would play Edward. How is that POSSIBLE? What was she, 16 at the time? This was a major motion picture and they left decisions like that to a kid? And it's not that I don't realize how insightful teens can be. Just the other day, my 13 year old niece Megan said "I don't know why they picked Kristen Stewart to play Bella. She never smiles and she always looks annoyed. Bella's a fun girl. She laughs and she's funny! I don't get it." Well, Meg, I don't get it either. I am tired of dancing around this topic and trying to be nice. IT'S TRUE. Kristen Stewart never smiles while playing Bella Swan! I don't know if it was her decision - or bad direction - but SOMEBODY has got to make Bella smile once in a while. It's completely unbelievable that anyone would like her in the slightest. And believe me - I will understand if she doesn't smile too much in New Moon. I mean, DUH. She was miserable during most of the book. But come ON people. Ugh can you tell I'm still tres annoyed after her Comic-Con antics last week? I'm just utterly disgusted and I don't know if it's going to go away any time soon...

Soundtrack news

Man all the good stuff happens when I go away. I should have had this up days ago. Muse, Radiohead (or just Thom Yorke?), and the new Brit band "Band of Sculls" are confirmed for the New Moon soundtrack. Stay tuned...

For a minute there, I was literally too choked up to type.

I can't even fangirl because I'm in tears. New Moon is my favorite book in the series. Forget the actors... forget the hype. It's the heart-wrenching story that I'm drawn to. Edward leaving just grabs ahold of my heart like some kind of vise... and puts it on immediate lock-down. Seeing him again through Bella's eyes just makes me cry. And much kudos to Rob Pattinson because it looks like he's ridiculously believable as Edward Cullen in this movie. I'd love to hear his reasons for being able to dig down and really feel Edward's pain in New Moon, thus portraying him so well. Maybe if his costars would let him SPEAK in interviews, I'd be able to find out.

Cartoon Edward

Oh man. ohmanohmanohman. I don't know. I don't KNOW. I don't think I like the weird, see-through, hallucinatory Edward. I don't really go for them changing the book in the first place. But look at him! It's like she's passing my cardboard cutout Edward!! He's like... one-dimensional. And it's so weird the way she passes him and then they show him again while she's still moving... almost like an old episode of the Flinstones where Fred was running and passed the same plant 17 times. I just... argh! I don't know!!! PS - I'll tell you one thing I know: Taylor Lautner is going to steal this movie. Mark my words. It's going to be an even playing field on November 20st. Guaranteed.

Roses are red... Violets are blue... Dear Kstew... IT'S NOT ALL ABOUT YOU!

I'm not sure, but this might be THE most annoying interview I've ever had the misfortune of TRYING to watch. Every - and I mean EVERY time Rob Pattinson tries to talk, Kristen Stewart makes fun of him to Ashley Greene and it clearly makes him so uncomfortable he stops what he's saying. I am dumbfounded. Dear Kristen - as much as I like hearing what you have to say, I also like hearing what THE REST OF THE CAST is TRYING to say, too. Please SHUT THE EF UP. Thankssomuch, Carol.

My take on Comic-con:

Sex, Lies and Videotape

OK you know what? Kstew is losing my affections - FAST. Here is what I just emailed Jenn M about my thoughts on her appearance below: "And I don't care if she's jet lagged - or still in Joan character - or just plain constipated. That was bad stage presence and her "people" should have told her to conduct herself otherwise." I believe I also said something to the effect of "Dear Shark Boy, This movie could make or break your career. If I were you, I'd growl. I'd growl all damn day. And I'd like it. Your pal, Carol "

Comic Controversy

This - in a word - rules. Make sure to read the LA times article and read the comments. Priceless. Here's the deal. As much as I feel for these kids who slept overnight to get a good spot - and totally agree with them that people should not be able to cut their spot in line - they need to PIPE THE HELL DOWN about 40 year old women being too old to enjoy Twilight. (Does anyone know how to cast some type of crows feet spell? I'm right now on Book 4 of the Sookie Stackhouse series, and I'm all about the spells.)

WAY cool New Moon photo!

Check it. Alice. Bella. Jacob. The couch. The "omg Aliceeeee" scene. (Click the picture, yo. It gets bigger. And Chris Weitz is in the big one. Srsly.)

I. Love. It. Is Alice's outfit not PERFECTION??? Exactly how I pictured them ALL. This is one of my absolute favorite scenes in the book. Having Alice show up after all that time was almost as good as finding Edward. Almost.

OK so I'm on vaca and having some internet issues so please FORGIVE me for not blogging more often. And if I miss your comments I promise I will respond when I get back!!

No WAY!

My other sister's Edward

So I've mentioned my sister, Tracey is a Twi-dweeb like me. But I haven't mentioned that my other sister - Jill - is also reading the series. She is almost finished "New Moon" (thank you LORD).. and will be starting Eclipse soon so she can finish all four and attend my "100 Days til New Moon" party next month. So anyway... I was a little worried about her interest... but she calls me tonight, and she's all excited, and she blurts out "I found my Edward!" She then proceeds to tell me to go watch the following video of Adam Lambert from American Idol singing "Mad World" from Tears for Fears. She's like "Look at the coat! Look at the fog! He's totally vampire! He even told Ryan Seacrest he was going for a Twilight look!" (Hell even Randy Jackson's yelling "Twilight" while Simon is talking. ) I noted the Fangirl in her voice. Tremendous. And so ladies and gents, it begins. Yet another person is getting hooked. On MY brand of heroin. It's almost sinister the way I love turning people to the dark side....

So what do you think? Edwardesque?

Jimmy Fallon amuses me.

Check out this video from Jimmy Fallon's show where he does a parody of Rob Pattinson and Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) sparring with each other about their movies. The outtakes at the end are hi-LAR-i-ous. The Bella blowup doll is my favorite. Enjoy.

Fresh NEW MOON dirt!

How is it POSSIBLE that I could have read this entire (friggin awesome) MTV interview with Chris Weitz before I noticed THIS MOVIE STILL IS NEW!!!!! I am soooo FANGIRL right now!!!! The BEACH!! The TRUCK!!!

The release of "New Moon" is still roughly four months away, and if you're impatiently tapping your foot as much as we are, we might have an antidote. HitFix recently sat down with "New Moon" director Chris Weitz and got him to spill on the sequel — from soundtrack songs to the film within a film "Face Punch." Here's a brief synopsis of his remarks (POTENTIAL SPOILERS AHEAD):

-Chris is about two weeks away from sending a director's cut of "New Moon" to the studio. He has to have a final cut of the movie ready by, fittingly enough, the day before Halloween (Oct. 30).
-Chris will debut a few new scenes this month at Comic-Con 2009 in San Diego.

-The CGI shot of the wolf from the trailer that premiered during the MTV Movie Awards has gone through 20-30 iterations since, likely to make it look more realistic.
-New potential candidates for the soundtrack include Thom Yorke and Kings of Leon.
-Chris' favorite scene to film was the sequence at Volturi headquarters.
-About the look of the Volturi's lair Chris said, "The first thing I wanted to do was put them in a setting that wasn't Dracula's castle. I feel like that's been done. There have been so many vampire movies and werewolf movies and horror movies where everything has been dark and dreary and everything is blue or green or something like that. Instead, their headquarters is surprisingly light and crisp."
-There will be a proposal scene. I repeat: There will be a proposal scene.
-Though sadly, we won't get to see "Face Punch" the movie within a movie Michael Welch told us about last month. No actual scenes were filmed for it, so movie-goers will only hear the sounds of the faux film.
- Will Chris come back "Breaking Dawn" as fans have been hoping? "I think it's really charming that having not seen 'New Moon' people would be enthusiastic about me wanting to do 'Breaking Dawn,'" he told HitFlix. "That's really -- y'know I think the proof is in the pudding and they should see it before they decide there is anything else they want me to do. But I would hope to earn that kind of rumor. We haven't really spoken with Summit about that."

What do you think about these new "New Moon" details? Do they make you even more excited to see the film come November 20?

When I can speak again, I'll definitely throw a big, ol' YES out there as my final answer.

A-MA-ZING article.

I don't know what impressed me more. Katie Bain's tremendous article on Hollywood.com entitled "15 Things I Learned about Rob Pattinson on the New Moon set", with a complete play-by-play of her day on the New Moon set... Or the fact that she got to spend the day(s?) lurking around the New Moon set. Clearly writing for a large publication - online or off - has its' benefits. Maybe I should quit my day job...

The life of Riley....

Casting Alert. Apparently "Riley" has been cast for Eclipse. The actor's name is Xavier Samuel and he's from Australia. Check out the deets at Risky Business.

I am so fan-girling right now!!!

First, I saw this AMAZING picture and got giddy. Then, I read this tremendous LA Times article from Gina McIntyre and almost fell off my chair. You MUST go - right now - and read the article. It's fanTAStic. And it gives some really great insight into how they're going to insert Edward as a hallucination. It also gives you a great look inside Chris Weitz' mind regarding his adaptation of "New Moon".

GO. FORTH. AND. READ!
