Before I get started, let me say that this post is dedicated to Linda and John, my partners in 80s-loving crime.
The 80s are back, my friends.
No doubt about it. Everywhere I go, I see shades of my former self.
Go shopping in any mass clothing retailer and you'll see it. Go to Target and you'll see large houndstooth, lots of plaid, and colors so bright they're bordering on neon. (Target buyers must be afraid to totally commit yet. Give it 6 months and "throw-up-of-the-apocalypse yellow" will be displayed proudly, instead of the "big bird yellow" they've got now.)
Go to Old Navy and you'll see thick, bold stripes and flared mini skirts (think Debbie Gibson). Or cap sleeve dresses with stretch pants (think Pat Benatar. Lord don't bring back the leather.)
My point? I'm about to wax on about the 80s some more, peeps, so listen up.
I came across this photo of Robert Pattinson today on twilightmoms.com. And what's the first thing I thought of?
Duran Duran.
You see, I have this theory that whatever was hot when you reached puberty - that's what you're going to be attracted to for the rest of your life. That will be your "type", if you will. Well - you know what was hot when I was 13 years old? You got it. Duran Duran.
All that makeup and hair gel. All those Vivian Westwood outfits and that androgenous, "New Romantic" look. My god, I ate it up and drank it all in until I was thirsty for more. (Cheesy vampire reference alert! Sound the alarms!)
I have seen Duran Duran live in concert so many times I've lost count.
I've attended conventions and met my 3 favorite members. (OK so I froze when I first met John Taylor and all that would come out was "great show!" So what?! It happens!)
So now I find myself - uh - in my late 30s..yeah, yeah... in my late 30s (wink wink, I hope none of you are good at math) and attracted to a 23 year old. HE'S ALMOST A KID for god's sake, and yet I see a photo and go "Wow - I would soooo hit that". Luckily when I see a photo of Taylor Lautner in all his massive pec-ness and I only think "awww - what a cute kid". C'mon, he's not even legal. But RPattz? Day-um. It's definitely the androgynous thing that Nikki Reed mentioned a while back. And yet - here's a hole in my theory - I didn't like those pictures from Joepie at all, where they posed him in a manner more feminine than Nick Rhodes lounging with a cognac after visiting a Warhol gallery (if that's even possible. Lord that man loves the glam. Um, Nick Rhodes is the guy in the middle, just in case you were wondering.)
So what do you think? If you dig RPattz, and you're over 35, were you a Duran fan? Spandau Ballet? Kajagoogoo? A-Ha? Roxy Music? (What I wouldn't do to get some Roxy into a Twilight film). Were you a fan of any bands that brought soooo much man-pretty to the teen table?
Inquiring minds want to know...

Watch ET on Monday for a glimpe of Bella vs Paul
This video is especially for Shannon C. who loves Chaske Spenser's "sexy" voice. :)
Robert Pattinson in Joepie Magazine
Check out these photos. I am giggling. Something tells me Rob is, too. Discuss! *Thanks to newmoonmovie.org for the photos.
Kristen Stewart video
I found this interesting because I can relate. She says how much she loves old t-shirts her brothers have worn out. I sleep in my husband's old t-shirts. The older, the better. And I cracked up at "shower - get it done". I feel the same way. Get IN... and OUT! LOL Thanks to MTV for the find.

The Real Vampires of New Jersey
Check out this NJ.com article about real vampires. In New Jersey. Yeah. Somehow, I don't think Edward would hang with this crew. Something tells me they wouldn't appreciate his oxford shirts, khaki pants and the Aston Martin parked in his driveway. Especially when Jacob is driving it.

More Deep (Twilight) Thoughts
You know what will really piss me off? If these naysayer book snobs who are too good for Twilight actually go and see the films - and then dare to judge the story based on what they see. It doesn't matter how well done any of the films are, you have to read the books. Am I wrong?! I think not.
OK so... you know...I seek out new interviews with Stephenie Meyer because I love hearing anything she has to say about writing the books - and hearing her opinions on the characters. My point? I should know the answer to the following questions: Did Stephenie Meyer know the whole story, through the end of Breaking Dawn, while she was writing book 2? Did she know that Jacob was going to imprint on Renesmee in Book 4 when she wrote about Quill imprinting on Claire in Book 2? Was that foreshadowing? Was that done so we'd swallow the jagged little pill of an adult imprinting on a child... and wouldn't freak out when she did it in Book 4?
And here's a quick little diddy I am curious about: Is anyone going to watch Rob Pattinson's "The Haunted Airman" which Netflix is kindly shipping to me as I type? Have those of you in the UK already seen this ages ago? If so, you are most likely laughing at me and my sad little American excitement over the video just becoming available here. LOL It's cool. I'd laugh at me, too.
That's all. For now. But it's a rainy day and I have a lot of driving around to do. And I listen to the (Sirius) radio a lot in my car... and that's when I think up all my TwiQuestions. So beware - there may be more....

Deep (Twilight) Thoughts
Was just driving home from my Yoga class... (Namaste)... and had random Twithoughts running around in my brain and had to share.
1 - Did Edward ever truly hear Bella say she was doing reckless things so she could hallucinate him? I don't think so. I think she skimmed it briefly when they got back from Italy because she didn't want to make him feel bad. The only thing he heard was Alice say she had taken up extreme sports. Am I right on this?
2 - In New Moon, the film - do you think they'll show Edward getting the call from Rosalie in South America? I realize that's just a 4 page blurb on Stephenie Meyer's site, but it's SICKENINGLY juicy and delicious, is it not?! Or do you think we'll just see Alice tell Bella she sees Edward in Italy trying to off himself?
3 - I have been hearing a lot of Morrissey and The Smiths lately and I can't help but think that Morrissey is the voice of Edward Cullen. So many of his/their songs are so pained and intense. I have heard "How Soon is Now" twice in the past two days and I would absolutely put that on my New Moon Playlist, except for the fact that the refrain is "I am HUMAN and I need to be loved". Yeah. It just doesn't work now, does it? Too bad it's not "I am VAMPIRE and I need to be loved just like anybody else does." Now that - my friends - would rule.

Twilight - Vampire Diaries = WOLF LAKE!!!
I have just had a freakin EPIPHANY!!! Let me back up a little and tell you that I am a fan of the supernatural. I love "Twilight". I love "True Blood". I love "Vampire Diaries". And yes, it's true... I have never missed an episode of "Supernatural" (Hello? Sam and Dean, ghosts and demons, classic rock and that badass car? Are you KIDDING me? It's like television NIRVANA every Thursday!) And when I was a kid, I was hooked on "Kolchak the Night Stalker". When I was a little kid I was hooked on "Scooby Doo". (OK it's a stretch, but work with me here, will ya?!)
When I was posting about Paul Wesley earlier (lead hottie vampire from The Vampire Diaries who was born New Brunswick and raised in Marlboro for all you Central New Jerseyans.) I was completely unaware that he starred in a show I ABSO-friggin-LUTELY LOVED back in 2001 called "Wolf Lake" about - you guessed it - werewolves. It only ran for one season and was canceled. Never really found out why because it was AWE-some. I remember signing a petition online for it to come back, but my signature was in vain. Because - let's face it - Hollywood suits don't care about anything that doesn't have many dollar signs attached to it seconds after it premieres.
Wolf Lake had a lot of big names in it... like Lou Diamond Phillips... Tim Matheson... Sharon Lawrence and Graham Greene (the quintessential Native American actor who is in everything INCLUDING New Moon as Harry Clearwater. As my sister likes to say "When Hollywood needs a Native American actor, they yell 'Get me Graham Greene on the phone'!")
OK I'll shut up now but I just had to point that out because all of these vampires and werewolves seem to be crossing paths lately. Here's a little clip of Paul Wesley playing a werewolf instead of a vampire. Enjoy!

New Moon Soundtrack release date pushed up to October 16th
The New Moon soundtrack will be out on October 16th instead of October 20th. Pretty cool. Not sure if I'm going to listen to it though. That may have to wait until November 20th, too. I didn't listen to the Twilight soundtrack before the movie and it was all new. NEW is the word these days, people. NEW!
Kristen Stewart in Allure
Good article from MTV about the new Allure interview (coming out October 20th) with Kristen Stewart. Check out the article and then read my comments below. I'm interested in your opinion. Why try so hard NOT to be "that girl"?
Here's the thing. She IS pretty. She IS talented. So why the "dirty hair"? What's the statement? Sure, everyone goes out in public when they need a shower once in a while. And most of us are lucky enough to do it without cameras in our face. But it seems like it's all the time these days with Kristen. And no, I don't remember her looking like that before Twilight came out... or before making The Runaways movie... or before spending all of her time with Rob P. Again - not trying to bash her, she's worked hard to get where she is. Just wondering why the need to be "that other girl" who doesn't wash her hair or appear to give a damn? She's an actor. PR comes with the territory. PS - I'll always give her props for cutting her hair to look like Joan Jett. A lot of actors would have been too vain. *Thanks to popsugar.com for the photo.

Blood vial necklace; cool or loser-esque?
Um, when did Edward wear a blood vial necklace? I'm thinking never. At any rate, they used RPattz's image to lure me into buying one today at Great Adventure. I came very close - but decided against it. What do y'all think? Would you laugh if I wore one of these? Or would you think it was cool?
First still from Eclipse!
Stomach... butterflies... Edward... exhale... Oh my god. OH MY GOD. First still from Eclipse. I looked. I HAD TO LOOK. And just look at it. It's beauuuuuutiful. A slight bit of commentary. Good: Edward's shirt color. A nice, bright blue. Something Edward Cullen would wear. Lovely. Odd but hot: Edward's layered shirt-under-T-shirt - much like all the surf dudes wear here at the NJ shore. I really dig it, but Edward would so never have worn that. Whatev. Bygones. Moving on to not-so-great: Bella's plaid. I-am-sick-to-death of them putting that poor girl in plaid 24/7. Being "not girly" does not mean wearing constant flannel. Again - whatev. Just look at the closeness. Oh my GOD I can't wait for Eclipse now either. OK done. *Thanks to ROBsessed for the photo.
Great interview with Robert Pattinson
I enjoyed this interview with RPattz from Australia's "The Sunday Morning Herald". It's was done in Cannes in the spring... and is filled with his usual endearing, self-deprecating humor. I cannot believe that at this juncture of his life he is STILL slumming hotel hallways looking to bum a cig. That is classic. I could soooo get drunk with this guy. *Thanks to shockya.com for the photo.

39 Days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That's all. Nothing further. Just had to mention it. Loudly. With enthusiasm. Like the pathetic FanCougar I am.
No more New Moon stills! Please!
Am I the only one avoiding the latest New Moon stills like the plague?! I can't stand it anymore. It's everywhere. I remember the day the Edward-with-his-shirt-off-in-Italy shots came out; I didn't know what to do. I called Beth and said "I want to look. But I don't want to look. But I have to look. But I can't look. What do I do?!" to which she replied "Oh for the love of god JUST LOOK!!!" Then I talked to Shannon and Jenn M - on a conference call (snicker) - and we looked. And looked. Oh holy CRAP, did we look. And as much as I was upset that the Italy scene with Bella and Edward reuniting wouldn't be a visual surprise, I was still glad I looked. Lord have MERCY was I glad I looked.
But now I am to the point where I just have to save something for the film. Hell, I am even starting to avoid Eclipse set shots!
What about you? Are you looking?!

Meet Me on the Equinox video
I cannot breathe. I just watched the very beginning of this "Meet Me on the Equinox" video from Death Cab for Cutie - until Edward walks out of the woods in that STUNNING coat. And I forgot to breathe for a moment. And without taking a breath, I turned it off.
I don't know about you - but I have NOT looked at any of the new photos from the New Moon Illustrated Companion.
And I will not watch this.
As much as it is KILLING me. My god....he looked absolutely beautiful. But I've seen enough. I don't want to see anything else until I see the movie. I almost want to shut down my computer for 42 days and not look at another picture or video until November 20th. Holy shit, People. I am acting like NuttyMadam in one of her fangirl reaction videos ("The beach! The truck!") But I can't...help...it. That vision...holy crap...it was perfection. Edward Cullen hallucinatory perfection.
Kudos to Robert Pattinson. When it comes to Edward Cullen, the man can BRING IT.

Know what's funny?
Y'all know I'm not big on posting the totally stalkerific paparazzi shots of the Twilight actors engaging in ho-hum tasks. (Not that I don't do it. I just try not to make a habit of it.) It's so stupid and invasive... they can't let one rip without someone printing something about it.
So I found it so funny last week when this photo started circulating. And circulating. And circulating. I can't stand it anymore; I have to comment. These websites (some of them wonderful sites - don't get me wrong) post a headline like "KStew and RPattz spotting having dinner together in Vancouver!" Now aren't you picturing Kristen and Rob at a beautiful, candle-lit dinner... sitting at a private table in the corner....all dressed up (I snicker at the mere thought).... "sipping cabernet and munching on foie gras" (as In Style magazine loves to say).
And instead we get this. They're leaving some casual spot - with an assistant or manager. That's it. No mystery. No intrigue. No spectacular restaurant only the beautiful people can get into. Hell, RPattz is in a baseball hat. And he's opening the door for god's sake. Hell - even FRIDAYS will open the door for you!
OK that's all. Just had to make mention. It's no fun laughing about these things all alone. I have to bring you all into my sick mind to share the fun!

More Michael Sheen goodness...
Check out this little blurb from Michael Sheen's interview in Parade:
I totally agree. I found Aro to be so totally not scary - and yet I was terrified of him. It was so peculiar. I kept waiting for the ball to drop with him - but he gave Edward the big, ol' pardon in New Moon...and he did the right thing and let the Cullens go in Breaking Dawn. I am looking forward to seeing Chris Weitz' vision in New Moon, because the trailers have made it obvious we're going to get to see Aro's nasty side in the movie. To which I say: BRING IT ON!
Speaking of blood, taking on Aro in New Moon.
"There's so much expectation about the sequel. People who are hooked on the stories have very definite ideas about the character from the second book. So it's a dilemma. You want to give them what they expect, what they want to see, but you also want to surprise them. My biggest concern has been that everyone would remember that I played a werewolf in Underworld. So it would be a stretch for me to become a vampire. But I just love Aro. I think he has a gentle side even though he's pretty scary. And I'm just very pleased to have a whole new generation of people I can scare."
His daughter got a literal kick out of the news.
"I was excited about being in New Moon mainly because I thought it would make my daughter Lily very happy since she loved the books and the first movie. But, she was a bit overwhelmed. It was like when I was kid--if there was something I was really into, the last thing I wanted was my mom and dad to be into it as well. So, at first, Lily got upset and sort of cried when I told her. I think it was just like her fantasy imaginative world suddenly colliding with reality. She did punish me a bit. When she kicked me, I think that was sort of acting out her frustration."
Cool Vampire video from PopSugarRush

Michael Sheen on Craig Ferguson
This is ESPECIALLY for Tracey R. Holy COW is she going to flip when she sees this. It's Michael Sheen (Aro - New Moon - where he'll be sans white hair and papery skin. Don't get me started) on Craig Ferguson last night...in SKINNY PANTS and a few days worth of beard on his cutie pie face. Wow Trace, he might have actually surpassed Tony Blair! (Tracey and I have a thing for slightly nerdy Brits.) *Thanks to Twilight Moms for the heads up!

Rob or Robsessed?
This EW PopWatch article is GREAT. Thanks to Tracey for sending it to me. I totally agree with this Mandi Bierly on this. I'd much rather watch a documentary on RPattz' nutjob fans than RPattz, himself. (Wait - scratch that - I'm not sure I'd want to watch that, either. Hell, I might be in it.) But I LOVE this comment about Alexander Skarsgard (Eric - aka the minty fresh Sheriff of Area Five from True Blood):
"any time I see a link on Twitter to a fan’s story of meeting True Blood’s Alexander Skarsgard in Shreveport, where he’s filming Straw Dogs, I click on it. Yes, I’m curious as to whether the shirt he’ll be wearing in the accompanying picture is sleeveless or sheer (either is acceptable), but I’m even more eager to know what lie the fan told to an employee or family member to hide the real reason for her trip; how she determined the best time and location for a possible sighting; why she chose a particular outfit or opening line; who she dragged along with her and what directives that person was given. It’s like watching a TV show with great sexual tension — all about the build up."
Jenn M, Shannon, Tracey and Jenn D and I have been discussing "Eric's" mesh shirt ALL WEEK! This just CRACKED me up!!

How many times have YOU read Twilight?
Srsly. Please comment on this. I MUST know. I have read each book twice and will be starting again soon. (Right after I read "Outlander" which my sister Tracey has been talking about longingly for 24 straight hours.)
How many times have YOU read Twilight?!

Edward Cullen Pumpkin Carving Stencil
Oh this... is rich. I luvs it. I want one. Something tells me hubster won't agree. Get the deets over at Pink Raygun where I got the lovely photo. Enjoy!
Hmmm. Have you read "Outlander"?
OK so I just got this from my sister who flew home from her vacation in Puerto Rico this AM. What do y'all think?
Ladies, I never thought I would ever, EVER say this, but here goes:
Edward, Schmedward.
That's right girls. There's a new Sheriff of Library 5. His name is Jamie Fraser. And he will rock your ever-lovin' world.
Do the following:
1) Go to your local library or bookstore. No, forget library. You must purchase, not borrow. You won't want to return.
2) PURCHASE "Outlander" by Diana Gabaldon.
3) Lock yourself away.
4) Begin reading.
Now, Jenn M. has a bit of a head start here, as she started reading on my recommendation. So as she knows, it is a slow start. For the first 30-40 pages, you feel like you're reading a Noel Coward play: "Dahling, would you like a spot of tea? Fancy a brandy on the terrace before retiring?" Yawn. (Tho I warn you, you will need to go back and read these pages once you realize that they are in fact incredibly important to the plot.) Even the next 100 or so pages aren't exactly riveting--lots of exposition, trying to figure out exactly what the narrator's deal is (it's told by Claire, a late 20s British nurse just after WWII), lots of characters that are easy to confuse. We actually meet Jamie and, while he's certainly an interesting character, he's no Edward/Bill/Eric.
But then the plot starts to get going. And long around page 200, you find that it's hard to put down. And then....hold on to your hats, ladies.
I'm on page 706 right now. I read straight through on the plane for 4 hours--beginning at 6 a.m. I haven't been able to put it down for three days. I'm been like, EFF PUERTO RICO--I NEED TO READ!!!!!! Read on the beach. Read in the car driving around. Read well into the night. Will probably finish tonight. And the best part is that there are AT LEAST four more in the series to read!!!!!!!
Trust me, ladies--the Claire/Jamie relationship is astounding. And it's better than Twilight in one important aspect: the narrator is actually NOT annoying. Though for a long while, Claire and Bella would fight to a draw in a dope-off, Claire gets it together midway through the book and actually does some kick-ass rescuing. And Carol, you are especially loving this book because Jamie is--get this--a Scottsman. He talks in a brogue that seems like it might be annoying to read at first, but ends up not being. And he is HAWT. And gentle. And HAWT. And funny. And HAWT. And endearing. AND. HAWT.
Jenn M--back me up here, if you've read more. Everyone else, get started so we can discuss. TRUST ME!!!!!
UPDATE - she just emailed me THIS little diddy, so don't be 'spectin' any vamps:
FYI, no vamps in this. Just some witchtrials. And fairies (maybe). And time travel. And kilts.

And kilts.

Stop me before I read Twilight - again!
Just a quick blurb to tell you I've decided to read Twilight - again. For the third time. One part of me is saying "What is WRONG with you?!" I have a book club book to finish by the 16th and I haven't even STARTED it yet! But the other part of me completely understands the gravitational pull toward Edward Cullen. I am a magnet and he is steel. Tonight I picked up my copy of Twilight - opened to a random page - and started reading. 10 minutes later I had to tear it out of my own hands. It was crack and I was hooked. AGAIN. Seriously. I feel like I just ran into my old boyfriend at a party and have decided I'm too weak to stay away from him anymore. It's wrong, wrong and more wrong. And yet - here I go - again. Wish me luck...
Blog maintenance!
Forgive me of the blog looks funky from time to time this weekend. I'm playing with the style and layouts but it's only temporary!
OFFICIAL New Moon Playlist
Here is the official New Moon playlist (just for you, "Anonymous"!) As of right now, the only song available is "Meet Me on the Equinox" by Death Cab for Cutie. I'll add the others as they become available.
Kristen Stewart in Interview Magazine
OK so here's a pretty cool article with Kstew in Interview magazine where she talks a lot about filming the Twilight series and being Bella Swan. What is SO cool about it is that she was interviewed by Dennis Hopper. (If you don't know how unbelievably awesome he is, go watch his "I'll take one of those Chesterfields now" scene with Christopher Walken in "True Romance".) And below is a photo shoot the mag did with her. It's pretty telling. She looks like she'd rather be getting a root canal, which tells me she's pretty cool in the humility department. (Actually the hair pretty much gave that away long ago.) I have a few comments to the fans - and to Kstew, herself:
Dear Kstew fans,
Want to show Kristen how much you love her? How about leaving her alone when you see her out in public? I don't know about you but I would lose my shit if I was held hostage in a hotel room for months on end. Even WITH RPattz.
Kay thanks,
Carol

Dear Kstew,
Please don't float the F-biscuit so readily whilst chit-chatting with Dennis Hopper. Dude, he's DENNIS HOPPER. He kicks it old school. Respect your elders.
Smoochies,

3-for-1 New Moon Special!
Um, yeah. Have you ever seen this 6+ minute trailer for New Moon? It's all three trailers merged together in sequence. I've heard about it but haven't really bothered with it until tonight. Holy crap. No, I didn't mean that. What I meant was, HOLY CRAP!!! I have tears streaming down my face. (And hello, why don't I remember the post-Italy bedroom scene in the trailer?!) HOW many times have I seen these?! But to see it all together...Wow. HOW am I going to get through 2 hours without being a complete blithering idiot?! And I never realized it before, but I don't really feel bad for Bella apart from the nightmare scene. I don't cry for Bella; I cry for Edward. In the breakup scene, when she's sprawled out on the forest floor getting god knows WHAT in her hair, do you know why I'm crying? Because I know it's killing Edward to leave her. And when she's running through the sea of red in Volterra, trying to get to him, do you know who my heart is bleeding for? Edward. Because he's upset. The books just come flooding back to you when you see this, which is good, because lately I've been feeling a little disconnected to the series since it's been so long since I've read it. le sigh. Watch this. Now. And PS - Liz, I SO CAUGHT YOU reading Eclipse in your car today! That is so great. I'm so jealous that you still have two full books to devour. ENJOY!!!
Be warned, I'm about to get serious on you.
I have to thank newmoon.org for posting this heartwarming story and letter. A simple note and signature from Robert Pattinson gave this woman a tremendous amount of joy - and that is truly what's it's all about. If this story doesn't make you think twice about your life, nothing will. My husband, Tom (Tomward? LOL) is a kidney donor and I cannot tell you how important organ donation is. If it weren't for him, his brother, John would not have lived through diabetes, a very invasive disease that causes so many other problems in the body. It's been 10 years and we feel very blessed to have them both.
I hope and pray that Ms. MS gets her transplant and lives to a ripe, old age. She is inspirational in her fight - and even in her love of Twilight. Getting a message to Rob. P....going to see Peter F.... All while in a wheelchair and on constant oxygen. Hell, I was too embarrased to wear my "Bite Me" shirt today because I figured it would be overkill between my Converse, Raybans and "Be Safe" bumper sticker on my car. I might be "found out" in the parking lot at school. God forbid, right? MEH. It's all a bunch of nonsense compared to what this courageous woman is going through.
I'll get off my soap box now. Carpe Diem.

Squeeee!
How long have I been saying I want to see RPattz in a period piece? Check out this article from zap2it. Dune? Meh. I think I walked out of that when STING was in it. I hope this is true that he turned it down. And hello? His "harem of mistresses"? Yeah. I think I can handle Bel Ami.
'Twilight: New Moon's Robert Pattinson chooses dark 'Bel Ami' over 'Dune'
Robert Pattinson won't be tasting the spice anytime soon.
Despite reports that the star of "The Twilight Saga: New Moon" would be headlining Peter Berg's upcoming adaptation of Frank Herbert's famous sci-fi novel, sources tell Gossip Cop those rumors are untrue.
What is true is that Pattinson is set to star in a version of Guy de Maupassant's 1885 novel "Bel Ami." He'll play amoral journalist Georges Duroy, who uses his harem of mistresses to move up the social and professional ladders.
Pattinson is currently filming "The Twilight Sequel: Eclipse." His non-vampire romantic drama "Remember Me" will be in theaters in time for Valentine's Day 2010.

Where's Carlisle?
I saved this one for the end of the day, hoping I'd find some better things to say about it. Let's review. I'll do the best I can. We all know how I feel about Edward sporting a look of Cro-magnon Chic in this shot. What have they done to RPattz?! His head is the biggest thing in the poster. And the claw freaks me the hell out. Srsly. And hello? Um, Edward? Deney Terrio called. He wants his shirt back. OK moving on. Bella looks good, albeit cozied up to Cro-magnon Man...but the breeze blowing through her hair is reminiscent of a Jordache add from the 80s. Wait. Scratch that, make that Calvin Klein.
But again, she looks great, so we'll overlook the supermodel hair. Again - moving right along... Has anyone noticed that Carlisle is teeny-tiny and in the background? What's with that?! He's like Waldo! Doesn't seem right for a guy with one MILLION followers on Twitter. He should be like, 3rd in line, after Bella. OK - maybe 4th, behind Alice, since M'GIRL has a much larger role this time around. And speaking of Alice - she looks great - as do Jasper, Rosalie and Emmett. So "Yey!" for them, because they definitely seem to have won this round of TwiPoster Goodness. Unlike poor Esme who is stuck on the back of the bus with Carlisle. Maybe they kept her in the back just in case she had to run off set to the bathroom. You never know.

V is for Volturi!
Ooooh my sister, Tracey is going to loveeee this. Mmmmm hmmmm. Why, you ask? Well let me tell you. Because Tracey loves herself some Michael Sheen. How a guy who mastered Tony Blair in "The Queen" is going to master Aro is almost beyond me. But I think he's fantastic, so I don't have any doubts.
Here's a question for ya:
Do you care that Aro won't have white hair and papery skin? Discuss!

Now wouldya just LOOK at alllllll the pretty. It's beyond comprehension. And is that poor Quill back there? We haven't seen much of him on the interwebs. Nobody puts Quill in the corner!

New Moon Soundtrack - Anya Marina
Check out Anya Marina's MySpace page to hear the song she wrote for the New Moon soundtrack, Satellite Heart. I'm always curious to know how much of the song we'll actually hear during the movie. Will we hear a good chunk? Or just a snippet like Collective Soul's "Tremble for my Beloved" on the Twilight soundtrack. 52 days to go, Y'all. 52 days to go...
Dork, party of 1?
OK might I just say that this cool new gadget from Feedjit I put on the site is awesome? It lets you know where people are visiting from. Las Vegas...Texas...Ontario...New South Wales...that rocks! I am the biggest Twidork on the planet and it makes me giddy that all of you are stopping by. THANKS! You all seriously made my day!

I heart Melissa Rosenberg
I got a little nervous when I saw rumors online with "Diablo Cody" and "Breaking Dawn" being used in the same sentences. NOT that I didn't LOVE Juno. Cuz I did, homeskillet. But I don't want anyone to mess with the franchise that is the Twilight saga. Just bring Melissa back and we'll all be happy, I'm sure. She's already written the first three. Why change now? That could be disastrous and very, very weird. At any rate, just read this great article from MTV that says Melissa has signed on for Breaking Dawn. (exhales) And this was my comment, which I HAD to share with you. I just had a revelation to beat the band. I think it could work:
What do y'all think? (C'mon - let's hear from everyone! I love comments from lurkers and new readers!)
I pretty much agree. And I just don't see how they can do two movies. Rob Pattinson will be grey before it's all over! I think the wedding - and Bella's pregnancy - can be shaved down. Give us a nice chunk of honeymoon. Give us a decent-but-not-huge chunk of Bella-the-new-vamp. Bring in all the vamps, give us some background and fight practice. Then lead up to the non-battle. As far as direction, I'd love them to use Catherine for the wedding, Chris for the honeymoon, pregnancy and Bella running around as a newborn , and then have David bring it all home in that scary, "30 Days of Night" way with lots of impending doom - which we all know never comes. I think it would be fantastic.

Twiscussions on Video
Check out the girls from "Hollywood Crush" chit chatting about some Twistuff. I wasn't going to post this until I got to the end and realized that in a ridiculous, self-absorbed way, I am the common denominator of all their stories! Allow me to elaborate. (And check out the video below or it looks like I'm just doing a butt-load of celebrity name-dropping.)
Taylor Swift grew up in Wyomissing, PA, about an hour away from where I grew up in Paoli, PA. Dave Boreanaz went to Malvern Prep, which was 10 minutes from my house. I used to see him at my high school's football games and yes, I drooled over him back then when he had the big boy haircut and sported Patagonia jackets. But it was because his dad ("Dave Roberts") was/is the weather man on Action News and I thought that was kewl.
Lastly, I SO want to make a video like this. Jenn M., Shannon and Tracey, have I not been saying we should do this for months? It's bad enough I didn't get any of my New Moon trailer reactions on camera, but now I'm missing out on the Twiscussion vids, too! We must REMEDY THIS, Ladies!

Bill and Edward. Perfect together.
I love this. I wish there was a rivalry. I find it funny that Stephen Moyer is saying Rob P could be his son. Doesn't that mean Sookayyyy could be his daughter? (Ew, with all this Mackenzie Phillips weirdness this week, that's not even funny, is it?)
National Ledger - Twilight and New Moon's Rob Pattinson & True Blood's Stephen Moyer Rivalry?

Welcome to the EMASCULATION of Edward Cullen.
I don't even know where to start. I am so fired up about this car NONSENSE that I just posted nothing, by accident, and had to go back and erase my post-fulla-nothing before posting this.
Do you see this? THIS is a Volvo S60R. THIS is what Edward Cullen drove in Twilight. And New Moon. Oh and Eclipse and Breaking Dawn. Yeah. That's right. ALL of the books. Check it out yourself on Stephenie Meyer's "Cullen Cars" section of her website.
Do you see this? This is the Volvo C30. THIS is what Edward Cullen drove in the MOVIE version of Twilight. My only guess as to why the car was changed to something Edward Cullen SO would NOT have driven is that a) the "R" in the S60R is no longer available... and b) it seems like a car a younger person would drive, and they wanted to make Edward hip and truly 17, and not ONE HUNDRED EIGHT, which is what is truly is.
Now. Turn your attention to THIS. THIS is what Edward Cullen is driving in Eclipse. (See Bella in the driver's side?) It is an XC90. And I know a lot about the XC90 because I OWNED ONE for five years - until last year when I traded it in for a Ford Flex. I wanted a car that was a little shorter, a lot less expensive with just as much room and a 5 star safety rating. I miss my XC90 a lot, but seeing as Ford owns Volvo, I knew I'd be getting a similar driving experience. (Anyone who is saying "oh come ON, you can't compare Ford to Volvo is not aware just how much Ford there really in a Volvo these days. The same goes for the Saab 900, which is now built on a Malibu chassis as it's owned by GM and they have completely wiped out all the old Swedish designers and execs. Don't EVEN get me started on THAT.)
OK SO WHY am I waxing on about cars like some kind of annoying guy on one of those cable shows filmed in a garage with motorcycles and guys in bandanas? Because in addition to being a total techno-dweeb, I am also a TOTAL car chick. Always have been. Ever since I was in the 8th grade and completely mortified when my mother dropped me off at school in her 67 Dodge Dart. (I won't go any further with that story because it really does bring back painful memories and I may have to go lie down if I do.)
And WHY am I so upset about Edward's Volvo? Because it's not that difficult to stick to the damn story. Let's reflect on a little book called Eclipse. Do you remember this:
I have had not one, but two times since reading the Twilight series that I looked in my rearview mirror and saw a SILVER VOLVO S60 behind me and almost shat my pantalones. I am not too proud to admit that I spent the rest of the drive pretending Edward was following me and was going to give me one of his sexy, tight-assed lectures on his black, leather couch when I got home from helping Angela with her graduation announcements... but I digress.
Bottom line, the story goes: "the sun was glinting off a SILVER VOLVO right on my tail". And that's what we should see in the films.
OK so why change it? A Volvo XC90 is a great car. Don't get me wrong. But a guy who has a simultaneous love of all things fast, yet practical in the Volvo family is NOT going to drive one! Do you know what I called that car for five years? My MOM CAR. I don't care that they've changed it to black. Ooooh big deal. Black! As if that denotes a car that's usually driven by a person with a penis?!? NOT! My first car was black! (A pre-owned 1986 Nissan Pulsar, which was sa-weet until I went away for a weekend and left it in a parking lot that got flooded. There were practically fish falling out of the back seat when I opened the door. Let's not go there, mmmkayyy?)
So I ask you, Mr. Slade... WHY are you MESSING with "THE CAR"? Is it not enough to have a long and happy movie with a silver S60?? (Even without the "R", I'd much rather see the proper SILVER S60 than a BLACK X90!)
If you want to CHANGE something, change Bella's wig! (And lord....change Carlisle's while you're at it.) And leave the cars alone! Geez, next thing you know, Edward's going to be lending Jacob his Ferrari Enzo in Breaking Dawn! It's just...WRONG!

Dream On
Cool dream sequence photo from New Moon. Just add it to all the photos that have been taking my breath away this week. Look at the clothes. It's like Edward hasn't even died yet. And it sticks to the books because Bella had daydreams about Edward's "time" and saw herself wearing Victorian and Edwardian clothes. And just look at Bella's face. All happy and content in her little dream that Edward is still around. (OK not sure why Edward looks constipated but, whatev. We all have bad days.) Anyhoo...(god since when do I say "anyhoo?!") All of this means I may love Chris Weitz as much as Edward Cullen, if that's at all possible. Yowsa.

Good Twi-dish
Loved this Marc Malkin article with comments from Melissa Rosenberg. She shares my "whatev" sentiments on the conglomeration that is Robsten. She's also got some good dish here - specifically the "Riley" character in Eclipse... and how things in New Moon will be "expanded on" in the film. And there is some great, positive commentary from Rachelle LaFevre (who I totally love and am actually getting sadder over as the weeks go by.)
And it is only fair that I point out that Kristen Stewart looks FABU in this shot. I am really proud of her for stepping up to the plate and playing the movie star for her fans at the VMA's. I love Joan Jett even more than the next guy but it was time for Kristen to put her away for a little while. So kudosamundo, Kstew. Long live Bella Swan.

Mark reads Twilight
O.M.G. I am slowly becoming obsessed with this website, Mark Reads Twilight. He's some dude who is reading the series (I haven't yet delved into his reasons why) and he's pretty funny. He abuses Bella a lot, which means he totally reminds me of me whilst I was ranking on Bella and some of her moronic decisions. And today he became "Team Jacob" while on chapter 5 of New Moon...and hilarity ensued.
It's him. It's always been him.
Cool Fanbolt article with Kristen Stewart about filming New Moon and having to show tons of emotion over not being with Edward. (Hell... I do that every day!)
My Eclipse Playlist
OK so my Eclipse playlist is coming along nicely. That New York Times article about the Twilight series soundtracks got my juices flowing to work on it a little more... so I should have more tuneage up soon.
Has anyone noticed my double "Ain't No Sunshine"s? The Eva Cassidy version represents Bella's perspective when Edward keeps going away to hunt and making Alice hold her hostage. Le sigh. (Sorry. Just got a little lost in thought about Edward's new iron bed that the wench won't even sleep in.) The Bill Withers version represents Edward's perspective every time Bella trots off to La Push to hang with her hairy pack-o-friends.
Am I a genius or what? How cool would that be to hear two versions of the song representing the two characters?
Here's another thing that bugs me. Joe Hedges should be on that soundtrack. Guaranteed none of you know who he is, and the NYT article said most of the New Moon music is very indie. He's a guy from Ohio who has a band and has written some really beautiful songs. One is called Mitral Valve Prolapse (that's his own artwork above) and I wanted it on the New Moon soundtrack so badly. He wrote it because he has MVP, which is a leaky mitral valve in your heart. I have it too, and I just thought it would be SO cool from Bella's perspective. The lyrics say "I try but nothing ever fills me up" which is SO CLOSE to what Bella was always saying about the hole in her chest when Edward was gone. Another song is called "Pray the Stars" and it's gorgeous and I could hear it as Bella's feelings toward both Edward AND Jacob. I emailed him a while back and told him to submit Mitral Valve Prolapse for New Moon. He was good enough to email me back and ask about New Moon (he had no clue what it was) but that was it. So I'm sure he didn't submit. Then I read that article - and it bugs me because his band could have gotten some serious recognition, even from just submitting a song and having it get into the right hands. Maybe they don't want to go the "to the masses" route, though, which I can understand. Kings of Leon turned down a chance to be on the soundtrack, as well. I don't agree, mind you.... but I understand.

Record Labels Develop a Taste for Vampires
Tremendous New Moon soundtrack article from Ben Sisario at the New York Times. Including the name of the Music Supervisor for both Twilight and New Moon. She's the person you send your music to for consideration for a Twilight film. Her name is Alexandra (I can't tell you her last name, because that would be indiscreet) Patsavas.
Peter and the Wolves
Holy CRAP this is a hot picture. PFach and the boyz of the pack. I'm telling you, I am so stoked we got to see the pack in Parsippany because they are going to be so huge after New Moon comes out. Rob who?! PS - Snort. How easy was that headline?

Sense and Sensibility
Just caught the last half of Sense and Sensibility on HBO. Jane Austen is something I cannot resist. Ever. If I find a Jane Austen movie on TV, I simply cannot turn it off. And when it's over, I am compelled to speak and type as if I am a character in a Jane Austen novel, and I use words like "cannot" and "simply".
If you haven't seen Sense and Sensibility; see it. I cannot say "read it" as I have not. I am embarrassed to admit I have never read a Jane Austen novel; I have only watched every single one on film. Actually reading the novels may be my next project, as I have just finished "Dead and Gone", the 9th and most recent Charlaine Harris novel and now have nothing to read. (You all know it as a little show on HBO entitled "True Blood". But that's another blog.)
At any rate, the reason you must see Sense and Sensibility is that Hugh Grant plays Edward Ferrars. Why is this significant on a Twilight blog? Well, funny you should ask. I'm about to tell you. Something about Robert Pattinson reminds me of a young Hugh Grant. The hair? Maybe. The humor? Quite possibly. OK so he's way prettier than Hugh Grant was at that age, but something tells me he'd rather be known for his acting than his looks, don't you agree? Anyway, I don't know what it is, but I think it would be delicious if Rob P. starred in a remake of Sense and Sensibility and played Hugh Grant's character, Edward Ferrars. For starters, he's already got the name down. And Stephenie Meyer sites Edward Ferrars as a character who led her to naming Edward Cullen. She also sites Jane Austen as "probably her favorite - favorite author". And you can see why when you find yourself staring at the television on a Wednesday night, listening to the wind outside and hoping upon hope that Edward and Elinor will get together (even though you've seen it multiple times and already know they will.) It's all so Twilight-esque in the romance department. Absolutely delicious. (It's my blog and I'll use "delicious" twice if I want to.) I caught Rob Pattinson's deleted scene in Vanity Fair and have been wishing for a while that he'd do a Jane Austen film remake... or at least another 19th century period piece with tons of romance and angst. Does that description not scream "Jane Austen"?? I believe it does.
OK. That is all for now. I simply cannot keep my eyelids upright. Farewell...

Lauren's BACK!!!!
Carol's fav Twilight blog is BACK in all its' glory! LAURENSBITE is back!!! I am so excited I am just squeeeeing with delight! And might I point out that I am advertising a Twilight blog that is not my own right now. Oooooh....so taboo! Not sure if y'all know, but some in the Twilight blogosphere are really pissy about sharing. For some reason, they don't think there is enough Twi-lurve to go around and they refuse to give a little mention to a silly little blog like mine that like 7 people read. At any rate, RUN, don't walk, to laurensbite.blogspot.com. I heart her hilarity BIG time! Today she is breaking down the New Moon trailer in her own special way. She also gives a lovely synopsis of that other vamp show - Vampire Diaries. PS - I keep typing "Laurent". Tee.
Kanye aint got nuthin' on Stephenie Meyer
My response to this E! article which pondered the possibility of Kanye West's stunt on the VMAs actually being staged. Um, yeah. What-EV. Anyway - they mentioned the viewership was the highest in five years. Gee. Wonder why:
The VMAs got so many viewers because of the New Moon trailer. Same reason The Proposal did so well in its first weekend; they were showing a New Moon trailer. Same reason Stephenie Meyer has held the top 4 spots in US book sales for all of 2009. Trust me, all those 30 and 40-somethings weren't tuning in to see Kanye!

My VMA synopsis
Yeah. I'm once again going to recycle some of my comments on another website. In this case MTV (although I closed the page and can't find it again to save my life, sorry). Basically the MTV article was asking how we thought Kristen looked last night. Here is my response, where I commented on some other commenter's comments. Say that five times fast.
Kristen looked fabu. Doesn't matter if the dress was right for her (I dug how flirty it was) or if we liked her half-up 'do (which I thought was an ingenious way to mask the Joan 'do.) Bottom line - she put forth effort and dressed up and got pretty for an appearance and showed the fans she gives a sh*t. That's what matters. Loved that Rob let loose and had some fun with the crowd. He was a crack-up. Wonder where he got his shirt? (Catherine Hardwicke said his shirt at the TCA's came from his buddy's floor after his buddy wore it out the night before. NICE!) Taylor is a class act through and through at every single appearance. He deserves every bit of praise he gets.

Points for Robsten!
OK you all know I don't love gushing about the actors and I don't usually talk about their personal lives. It's all about EDWARD CULLEN - not anyone who plays him on TV.
COMMA HOWEVER - I just have to say that I LOVED the VMA "performance". For so many months we've watched Rob Pattinson literally shit his pants when cameras were around. NOT TONIGHT! When he came out on that stage all sauced and disheveled and CRACKING UP I was thrilled! It's ABOUT TIME this guy actually enjoy the ride!!! I give props to Kristen for the dress - very cute. And I dug the Victoria Beckham-esque do she was sporting. Honestly I'd rather she suck it up and get the extensions for the good of Eclipse - but if she won't, that is the best they're going to do with her Joan Jett growing-out do. And trust me - I'm not abusing her do because I got a totally over-layered do a few years back that took me 2 YEARS to fully grow out. Ugh. Not goin' back to THAT unhappy place. NEXT!!!!!
Lastly - Taylor Lautner - once again - STUPEFIES me with his maturity and great attitude. That's all. More tomorrow...

Watching VMA pre show
I am cracking myself up. I am having visions of Robsten sitting in their hotel room (you know, the one they must be sharing in NYC because we've heard ad nauseam that they're sharing a room in Vancouver). I am seeing them both rocking back and forth in some type of nervous trance over the thought of actually getting out of their car at the VMAs because it's simultaneously nerve-wracking and beneath them. Can't you just hear them now?
Rob: (claws hair) Why do we even have to go? I mean, I don't really understand it (claws hair again) like...it's just like....these girls....just....screaming...all of them just screaming....I...I...don't really get it because it's just (claws hair yet again)...I don't know, you know? Just crazy....and you wonder why it even happens because...it's like....
Kristen: (interrupts Rob while dually clawing her own hair) "Ugh. I...I....What...I....NO! NO! What? I...I...What are you....what are you even TALKING about?! Just...do what I do...just hold on to yourself and look confused."
OK guys - I'll be back at 10. MUST watch the season finale of True Blood. PS - Clearly the word "Amazing" is to Ashley on MTV as "Exactly" is to Carol on QVC. I might have to dig that video out of the archives just to show y'all that I can abuse myself just as much as anyone else.
